Catavento

Sources and attribution

Catavento brings together public information from many places. Every record shows where it came from and when it was checked. This page lists every source, what we use from it, how often we check it, and the credit we show.

Thank you to everyone in the free-flight community who gathers, checks and shares this information, often as volunteers. Catavento simply brings their work together in one place.

How we treat each source

  • Green

Public directories, openly licensed data and official services. We show the facts with a credit and a link.

  • Amber

Public but run by volunteers, without published terms, or sensitive to traffic. We take only facts and short labels, link to the full content, check rarely, and tell the owner what we use.

  • Red

Their terms don't allow automated collection, or the content needs a login. We collect nothing and only link to them.

Sources

Words in italics are filled in for each record, for example the club's name.

  • Sports Aviation Federation of Australia

    Green
    What we use
Club and school directories (names, state, website, the contact SAFA publishes for each, related association), upcoming events (title, dates, place, organiser, link) and the titles and dates of defect and safety notices. Never committee members' names or details, and never descriptions
    How
Reading its public directory pages, each club's SAFA page and its public events feed (about 45 requests a week)

    How
Its export service (siteguide.org.au/api/Export), as its webmaster suggested. Each check sends back the version tag from last time, so an unchanged day costs one tiny reply

Never article text, descriptions or photos
    How
