How flying works here

National body: Svenska Skärmflygförbundet (SSFF, Swedish Paragliding Association) (opens in a new tab)

Visiting pilots

  • Visiting pilots need liability insurance with cover at least equal to Swedish members' insurance; accident insurance is strongly recommended.
  • Sweden follows the IPPI system, and SSFF strongly recommends carrying your IPPI card when flying.

A short summary, not legal advice. Rules change, so check the current requirements with Svenska Skärmflygförbundet (SSFF, Swedish Paragliding Association) before you fly. Summary checked 13 Oct 2026.

Learning to fly

  • Start by contacting an SSFF-approved instructor and booking a student course; the SSFF site has an instructor finder.
  • Before the course you pay for SSFF's Take Off kit: basic insurance, SSFF membership and the training book. Club membership comes before your licence.
