Overview

How flying works here

National body: Letecká amatérska asociácia SR (LAA SR) (opens in a new tab)

Visiting pilots

  • The IPPI card is recognised only at association level and does not by itself make flying in Slovak airspace legal.
  • Pilots from outside the EU must have their licence recognised by the Transport Authority. Carry a liability insurance certificate on every flight.

A short summary, not legal advice. Rules change, so check the current requirements with Letecká amatérska asociácia SR (LAA SR) before you fly. Summary checked 13 Oct 2026.

Learning to fly

  • Training is done with an instructor at an LAA SR approved training centre, covering theory and practice.
  • LAA SR issues pilot licences, under authority from the Transport Authority, after theory and practical exams.
  • The medical check is done by a general practitioner, to the standard for a category B driving licence.
