Réunion

A short overview: how flying works here, where the sites are, and where to find more. Check with the national body or a local club or school before flying.

Overview

How flying works here

National body: Fédération Française de Vol Libre (FFVL) (opens in a new tab)

Visiting pilots

  • French rules apply: no licence is legally required, the IPPI card is accepted and training to FFVL brevet level is strongly recommended.
  • Third-party liability insurance is a legal requirement; FFVL membership and its insurance are open to pilots from any country.
  • The Réunion league (LVLR) asks visiting pilots to register online so it can send site, weather and local-rule information.

A short summary, not legal advice. Rules change, so check the current requirements with Fédération Française de Vol Libre (FFVL) before you fly. Summary checked 16 Oct 2026.
